How Adagin works for berries
Step through how data is captured and tracked across your entire operation
Each harvester has an RFID tag; runners carry a GT-1 device
- A runner collects each full crate from the harvester
- Every crate is logged by scanning the harvester’s tag
- Date, time, location, orchard, and tag ID captured per crate

Crates checked against target weight at the station
- A pre-set “High-Low-Go” scale shows if a crate is on weight
- The GT-1 is scanned with a mobile phone at set times
- Data syncs to the cloud once there’s signal or wifi

Field data syncs to the live portal
- Live within minutes, accessible anywhere on earth
- Orchard yields in crates and kilograms
- Harvester performance and total yield for the day

Berries packed, weighed, and recorded at station level
- Each Smart-Weigh station is run by a packing team
- Operator selects the product; the scale guides to the correct weight
- Cleaned berries are packed, then the carton is confirmed and labelled
- System tracks output, waste, QC, and packing speed per station

Cartons tracked and linked to production data with Smart Trace
- Each carton is scanned and linked to worker, product, and fruit count
- The QR sticker has a unique ID and can only be scanned once
- Packing performance updates live, with QC data shown alongside
- Full traceability stored for every carton

Quality checks completed and recorded at station level
- Quality checks are completed at station level and recorded against the packed carton or batch
- The system tracks defects, waste, and quality outcomes to help monitor packhouse performance

Cartons grouped and prepared for dispatch with Smart Pallet
- Cartons assigned to a unique pallet ID
- Pallet weighed, with packaging weight deducted
- Linked to customer, cultivar, and shipment
- Discrepancies flagged in balance reports; data syncs live

Frequently asked questions
FAQs in the orchard
What if harvesters use buckets and bring buckets to the station?
Not a problem, the GT-1 scanner will be located at the Station and each worker’s tag will be scanned at the station after confirming the bucket weight being within the correct margin.
Can we rent the hardware rather than pay for it?
No, but the scales have a fine margin that the crates must be within in order to be counted. Feedback from the manager states that the weight estimates and the actual weights are within single percentage points from each other
How long does it take for my data to show on the dashboard?
After the GT-1 device is scanned with a phone, all data that has been scanned in will be visible on the Dashboard within 5-10mins.
Are the weights of the crates linked to the cloud dashboard?
All data that have been scanned in will be visible on the Dashboard within 5-10mins
Do you have a recommended rugged phone?
Yes, we do have a really well proven and affordable rugged phone that we recommend farmers purchase.
How does the data and sim management work?
We have a system to help with the data and sim management. If you’d like, you are welcome to take the sim management over on your own account. Call us to guide you through the process if required.
Can the harvester or runner cheat the system?
No, there are many hidden settings that the managers can se on the GT-1 device. The settings used in the above section includes preventing the same tag from being scanned 2 times in a row and also preventing the same tag from being scanned within 3mins. The runners don’t know the settings and that prevents them from working around it. .
What if there is no signal in my orchards?
Not a problem, the GT-1 scanners doe not need cellphone signal to work. It uses satellite signals for GPS and then it is ready to be scanned. The data is transmitted to the cloud via the mobile phone with our app that is also offline compatible.
How do I calculate my yield per orchard?
The Orchard yield is determined by the bag coordinates and pre-set orchard boundaries. All the GPS plots that fall within the orchard boundaries are allocated to the orchard and we can set a pre-determined average bag weight to calculate yield and yield maps.
Can I export my data from your dashboards to Excel?
Yes, all our dashboards can be exported to excel to be used for internal calculations
How long does the battery of the GT-1 scanner last?
The GT-1 scanner will last a full 12 hours when the battery is still new, but we have a 3 year expected battery life cycle where if the battery does not last a full day, we swop the GT-1 out for a new one and refurbish the old one. So no need to throw an old one away and buy a full priced new one.
Can I still see my data if my subscription has stopped?
Yes, you will always have access to your data on the portal, even after the season.
How often do I need to charge the GT-1 scanner?
The GT-1 scanners must be charged every evening. We consider your GT-1 scanners like a farm radio that is placed in the Charger every evening and the next morning, it is ready for a full day’s harvest
What happens if there is a technical problem with my scanner?
Each GT-1 charging dock comes with a reset port. You can just insert the faulty GT-1 into the Reset port and press the reset button while the dock is plugged in. It will do a factory reset and you now only need to allocate the GT-1 and ensure that the correct configurations are selected. Just reach out to one of our technical staff to assist you.
FAQs in the packhouse
What happens if the system goes offline?
The system is offline compatible and no station will stop working. All the data will be sent through to the server once a connection is established again
Is it possible to cheat the system?
No, not when you have the Smart-Trace system. The only way to get more cartons for your station is to get more cartons past the Smart-Trace scanner.
Can I export my data from your dashboards to Excel?
Yes, all our dashboards can be exported to excel to be used for internal calculations
Do you provide calibration services for the Smart-Scales?
Yes, we do the full packhouse service each year for your packhouse. With the service, we also check your network, server, database, update to the latest standard software while calibrating your scales and providing you with a calibration certificate
Do you provide remote support?
Yes, we provide all customers that have an internet connection to their server with remote support by logging in remotely. We also provide remote training
Can my employees do a verification check each morning?
If you need to do a verification check with a calibrated weight each morning before packing, there is a small module built in that allows your employees to verify the weight of each scale. The system also automatically generates a verification report that shows the date and station that was verified to prove that it has been done
How long does it take to update the scales with a new product?
It happens instantly, or within 1 second of sending it out to the stations
Can an employee be logged onto 2 stations at the same time?
No, the system does not allow for it. Once the employee logs into a new station, the server will log him or her out of their previous station
Do I need to cable my scales to communicate with the server?
No, the scales operate wirelessly and only has a power cable. The scales can be connected with an ethernet cable, but that is optional and some customers prefer it this way.
Can I use the scales for other commodities?
Yes, we encourage you to use if for as many as possible products and commodities to extend the usage of the scales
Can the software updates be done remotely?
Yes, we regularly update our software if it results in a better customer experience
